I know, I know, I don't DO weddings but there are exceptions to every rule and this woman is an exception to just about every rule you can think of. She's amazing, beautiful and personality off-the-charts (and the groom ain't bad either!)
We all love quotes, (well, I do anyway) and I've collected then all my life. I get a charge out of hearing someone else put into words something that rings true to me or something that crystallizes thoughts I have had running around in my head but never really articulated. Anyway, here is a favorite of mine from Martha Graham as quoted by Tristine Rainer author of Your Life As Story an AMAZING book about writing the story of your life (you notice I didn't say, your LIFE STORY--that's too important-sounding and scary!). She talks about YOUR life as story. I love everything she's ever written. So here's the quote:
It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable it is; nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.
You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate You. I love that---there is no satisfaction--that is so true...when anyone asks me, "What's your favorite photo?" I always think it's the one I haven't taken yet, maybe tomorrow....blessed unrest
