It's here and I stopped, in the middle of moving the studio--surrounded by boxes and everyone asking what I wanted where--to open the box and switch over from my old, first generation iPhone to this hot, new little number. The iPhone 3Gs--the photographer's trophy wife (or husband as the case may be)....come to me darling.
I know I am totally obsessed with my cyc wall but I had to show you the finished product (with a crappy iPhone pic!) and also my cool steel-frame window created and installed by the artisans at Studio Iron. My sister uses their work in her projects all the time and they are fabulously talented so check them out if you need any iron work done.
OK here's the finished wall
Here's the cool window for my office--also an iPhone pic....cuz we don't know anyone with a nice camera do we???
When you own a small business, you find out pretty quickly that you can't do everything. After trying to frame a few things myself, I had to ask the question, "Do I want to be a photographer or a picture framer?"
Not only is he nice, soft-spoken and wears a tie every day to work (not kidding). He is also OCD when it comes to quality and the detail of the work he does AND he's reasonably priced to boot! You can't beat that. This guy has stayed up many nights turning around insane deadlines for me and my sister's design firm and he makes us look SO good. So if you have anything that needs to be framed, he's the guy.
Matage'....How DO you pronounce that name? We, affectionately, call him Matage-mahal (like the Taj Mahal). Silly, but memorable. Here are his new digs in the same building I'm moving into soon. 166 W. Main Street in Downtown Mesa, Arizona.
Jenn--just chillin' in the cool chairs at Matage...the Starbuck's is gettin' low, thus the sleepy eyes...
Great progress has been made in just a week. My brother put all the trim up today (not pictured) but I thought it might be fun to see how fab the cyc wall is coming along. I am so excited about that wall, even though everyone thinks it is just a fancy skateboard ramp (over my dead body...).
And then there's the lovely Jenn, Studio Manager Extraordinaire standing in the window to my office.
We are hoping to move in sooner rather than later but it will all depend on the painters! No pressure Matt....
....there was a mess that got much worse before it got better. Such is the nature of all building projects and our new studio is no exception. The new Cyc Wall is being built today by my sweet little brother who put a 6" nail through his hand yesterday with a pnuematic nail gun. Way to take one for the team Lo. And, no, the walls are not staying that color...
